Farmers urged to maximise wheat yield

Published October 28, 2006

LAHORE, Oct 27: The government would procure till the last grain of wheat and farmers should try to maximise their yield, said Punjab Agriculture Minister Arshad Khan Lodhi.

He told a group of farmers that the province has to achieve the target of 10.78 million tons of wheat and the government was facilitating them in every way. It has reduced the price of fertiliser and increased the support price of wheat.

He said the government increased the support price from Rs415 per 40 kgs to Rs425 - an increase of Rs10 per 40kg. Similarly, it decreased the price of fertiliser by Rs250 per bag. All these steps should facilitate farmers in increasing their production.
