HYDERABAD, Oct 18: The vice chancellor of Sindh Agriculture University Tando Jam, Dr Bashir Ahmed Chandio has said that latest techniques should applied for the development of agriculture sector to increase crops productivity.
He was presiding over a meeting of the board of advanced studies on Thursday.
He called upon the research scholars and experts to evolve comprehensive strategy to bring about a revolution in the agriculture sector.
He said that the growers must be motivated to adopt latest technology for increasing agricultural produce.
The board extended the period of the PhD research scholars who included Mohammad Nawaz Baloch, Mohammad Saleh Soomro, Bashir Ahmed Ansari, Ali Gohar Rajpar and others.
The meeting was attended by Dr Abdul Jabbar Malik, the director of the advanced studies and the deans of various faculties.
SAU RESULTS: The controller of examinations of Sindh Agriculture University Tando Jam on Thursday announced the results of BSc (hons) 2000 of faculty of Crop Production first term second year regular students.
Only 31 students were declared successful while 123 students were declared failed.
Meanwhile, the deputy registrar, admissions, has announced that the date of new admissions for 2001 has been extended up to November 15.
The interested candidates have been advised to collect admission forms from the designated branches of the Habib Bank.
ADMISSION FEE: The registrar of Sindh Agriculture University Tando Jam has announced that no increase in the admission fees had been made at present but the academic council of the university at a meeting held last year had increased admission fee for the first year during the new academic session.
He said this decision was taken by the academic council unanimously.
He said that no extra employees had been recruited in the university but the post of the project director which had been lying vacant for sometime for want of a suitable person, had been filled.
The deputy registrar said that Brig (retd) Ghulam Rasool Memon was appointed as the project director.
He added that Col (retd) Syed Khalid Murad was appointed as additional registrar and Commander (retd) Navy Ali Murad Gorahu was appointed chief security officer earlier in 1999.
MUET: The academic council of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Jamshoro at its meeting held on Thursday decided that the examination of Pakistan Studies and Islamic Studies/Ethics of first and second terms first year BE/BCRP/B Architecture of respective institutes/departments would be conducted on the same day, which would be of four-hour duration.
It was, however, decided that the question papers and the answer copies of each subject would be provided separately and the concerned students would not be allowed to leave the examination halls till the examination of both the papers were completed.
PUNJAB OFFICIALS: A group of Punjab government secretariat management trainees headed by Attaullah called on EDO finance, planning and development Abdul Qadir Mangi at Shahbaz hall here on Thursday.
Welcoming the delegation, Mr Mangi said that study tour of Hyderabad district by the officers of Punjab would help strengthen relations between the two provinces and provide the officials an opportunity to witness the culture of Sindh.
He gave a briefing about the working of Hyderabad district government and said that the officers were extending full cooperation to the district Nazim and DCO to strengthen the present setup.
He said that the district Nazim was fully authorized to initiate development schemes up to Rs20 million in his district and if the scheme entailed more than the above amount, permission had to be taken from the provincial government.
The meeting was attended by EDO community development Shams Jafrani, EDO revenue Shakeel Naqvi and others.
