KARACHI, Oct 24: A tight security has been put in place for three-day festival of Eidul Fitr across the city starting from Wednesday. A total of 5,000 police personal and an almost similar number of paramilitary forces have been especially assigned the security duties.

Capital City Police Officer Niaz Ahmed Siddiqui said that 3,000 extra police personal had been deployed in the city which form part of the 5,000 force exclusively posted for the security duties.

“There are 1,500 major places of Eid congregation, including mosques and playgrounds. In addition, there are recreational places like Beach View Park and other places of outing in the city where the police personal will be deployed for the security duties,” Mr Siddiqui added.

He said that police would carry out snap checking at different places in the city.

The CCPO said that security cameras installed at sensitive places would also be utilized for the security purpose.
