Thursday is govt holiday

ISLAMABAD, Oct 23: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Monday announced that Thursday, Oct 26, would be observed as a gazetted holiday.

The announcement came after the central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee announced that Shawwal moon was not sighted and Eidul Fitr would be celebrated on Wednesday.

The government had earlier announced three gazetted holidays (Oct 23 to Oct 25) for Eidul Fitr.

The provincial governments of the NWFP, Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan have also announced an additional holiday on Thursday, official handouts said.—Agencies
