Levies suspend rail traffic

Published October 24, 2006

LAHORE, Oct 23: Rail traffic on the Quetta-Mach section remained suspended on Sunday for two hours when the Levies personnel staged a sit-in on the track to protest against non-payment of salaries.

A PR police spokesman said on Monday Levies had been deployed for protection of railway bridges and tunnels in Bolan Valley. Around 120 Levies personnel staged the sit-in, claiming they had not received salary for the last three months.

They ended the protest after railway authorities assured them to solve their problem.
