53 ‘criminals’ arrested

BAHAWALPUR, Oct 23: Police claimed to have arrested 53 alleged criminals at the pickets set up at the entry points of the city here on Monday. According to police sources, the arrested people included 36 proclaimed offenders and 17 court absconders. Channigoth police arrested three people under Arms Act, they added.

Besides, the police claimed to have arrested 27 people on canal water theft charges from Bahawalpur and Khairpur tehsils.

SUSPENDED: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Bahawalpur, suspended three officials from service on the charges of increasing marks of matric candidates during rechecking of answer books.

They are; superintendent Sarwar Javed, and clerks Mansoor Ali and Muhammad Alam of Secrecy Branch.
