KARACHI, Oct 23: Baloch nationalist parties have planned to resume their anti-government campaign after Eidul Fitr with rallies and seminars to be held in Balochistan, Sindh and other parts of the country.
The campaign is focused on the situation in Balochistan, particularly the changing scenario after assassination of Nawab Akbar Bugti.
It will reflect resentment and protest over the crackdown on Baloch activists during their struggle for the rights of the province and its people.
When contacted, Senator Dr Abdul Malik Baloch, a senior leader of the National Party, confirmed that his party had decided to resume the campaign against the ongoing military operation in Balochistan.
In reply to a question, the Baloch Senator from Mekran said that there was a situation of confrontation in that province, adding: “We have not witnessed any change in the government’s policy vis-a-vis Balochistan.”
He ruled out possibility of any talks in near future so long as the present uncertain situation continued to exist.
The Senator said his party had always insisted on finding a political solution to the Balochistan problem but the government seemed not sincere to resolve the issue. He also condemned the crackdown on Baloch activists in Karachi, saying that it was right of every citizen to stage a protest against injustice.
He said NP leaders had already visited Baloch dominated areas in Karachi and listened to the grievances of the people, and added that he would also visit Karachi after Eid to brief people and the press about the situation prevailing in Balochistan.
Meanwhile, it is also learnt that the Balochistan National Party (BNP-M) headed by Sardar Akhtar Mengal would also launch its anti-government campaign after Eid.
