PESHAWAR, Oct 22: The Shawal moon has been sighted in different places in the NWFP and tribal areas and Eidul Fitr will be celebrated in most parts of the province and Fata on Monday.

This was announced by the zonal Ruet-i-Hilal Committee of the NWFP headed by provincial Religious Affairs Minister Maulana Amanullah Haqqani on Sunday night after a marathon meeting.

Earlier local moon sighting committees had made similar announcements.

While the zonal committee was meeting at the Auqaf Plaza here, a traditional committee at the Qasim Ali Khan mosque announced the sighting of the moon.

The Committee, headed by Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai, enjoys respect among the people of Peshawar and other cities.
