Three fall prey to family dispute

GUJRANWALA, Oct 21: Three people, including a woman, were shot dead in Kotli Pir Ahmad Shah locality here on Saturday. Liaquat Ali was sitting in the compound of his house along with his family members when accused Ghulam Yasin, Younis, Munir, Imran, etc, came there and opened fire on them following an exchange of hot words.

Liaquat’s son Asghar and a daughter-in-law Faiza died on the spot while Farzana, the wife of Asghar, sustained injuries. She was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

A family feud is stated to be the cause of the incident.

Police are investigating.

ACCIDENT: A passer-by was run over by an express train at an old city railway station on Saturday.

Anwar of Farid Town was crossing the track when he was crushed under the wheels of the train.

FRAUD: A customs intelligence team arrested an industrialist and his employee along with two sales tax auditors for embezzlement of Rs15 million in rebate through fake invoices while owner of a company managed to escape abroad on Saturday.

The owners of M/s Wasif International and Bismillah International, Daska, Muhammad Jamshed and Shahid Javed, got Rs15 million rebate with the connivance of two sales tax auditors, Muhammad Faisal and Abdul Ghaffar, on fake documents and invoices.

The team conducted raid at the residence of Muhammad Jamshed and arrested him and his associate Muhammad Ishaq. They also arrested both the auditors.

Shahid Javed reportedly escaped abroad.

BOOKED: At least 25 landlords were booked on charge of stealing canal water at Kot Ladha village on Saturday.

Reports said SDO concerned conducted the raid in which the accused were caught red handed while they were stealing the water after breaching canal.
