HYDERABAD, Oct 21: The University of Sindh has established Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) for training of teachers of universities and affiliated colleges of the province.

The centre has been established in collaboration with the National Academy for Higher Education and the Higher Education Commission at the Faculty of Education of the university. The HEC would provide funds for the centre.

The centre would offer professional training to the teaching staff of universities and affiliated colleges of public and private sectors. The teachers from universities would be nominated by the concerned university as well as college administration.

The first formal meeting of the centre was convened here on Saturday which was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui. Deans of faculties as well as heads of various institutes and departments attended the meeting.

The meeting discussed the importance of skilled training for the teaching staff to up-to-date teaching skills and discussed modules of the training.

The Dean of Faculty of Education and head of the HRDC, Prof Dr Iqbal Ahmed Panhwar informed that the staff development training would focus on the areas of educational psychology, advanced teaching skills, administrative, planning and communication skills, curriculum and material development, research skills and educational measurement and evolution and would be later on supplemented by online computer driving license course.

The Education Faculty would provide resources to hold the training for universities and affiliated college teachers.

The centre would be holding first training programme of university teachers and 35 teachers would be imparted training in the first course.
