KARACHI, Oct 20: Police are still clueless about the armed hold up with a van belonging to the Pakistan Air Force at Korangi Creek.

At least seven armed men looted a van (901005) of the Pakistan Air Force close to the PAF Korangi Creek Base on Thursday, police said.

A senior police officer said that four personnel of the PAF Korangi Creek were returning to the base after withdrawing Rs1,068,000 from the State Bank of Pakistan. When they reached near their base at least seven suspects riding on two motorcycles and a car intercepted the van at a deserted stretch of the road.

The bandits took the four occupants of the van at gunpoint depriving them of cash and their G-3 rifle.

An upper divisional clerk (UDC) Muhammad Rasheed later lodged an FIR No 176/2006 with the Ibrahim Hydri police station about the incident.

Quoting the statement of Muhammad Rasheed, a police officer of the Ibrahim Hydri police station said that the bandits struck so quickly that they could not react.

Inquiry Officer Arbab said that we had requested the complainant to come to the police station for the preparation of the sketches, but they didn’t turn up.

A senior police officer suspected that the bandits might have been following the van right from the I.I Chundrigar Road, but they chose to strike at the deserted place close to the base.

ARREST: Police on Friday solved the murder case of cellphone shop owner, who was shot dead on October 17 in his shop in Korangi.

Korangi TPO ASP Sohail Zafar said that they had arrested Naeem and Sajid who had confessed killing Syed Adnan Husain, 26. Besides, they also confessed committing around 60 armed robberies.

During interrogation, they confessed that when the shopkeeper, Adnan Husain, resisted we got nervous pulling the trigger at Adnan.
