MCB GDR listed on London bourse

KARACHI, Oct 18: The Global Depository Receipt (GDR) of MCB Bank Limited was formally listed on London Stock Exchange on Tuesday, making it the first Pakistani company to get listing at the LSE.Reports reaching here said that the formal market opening ceremony for the GDRs was attended by Pakistan Ambassador to the United Kingdom Dr Maleeha Lodhi, MCB Bank Chairman Mian Mohammad Mansha, MCB Bank President Mohammad Aftab Manzoor and other representatives from the bank. LSE chief executive officer Mrs. Clara Furse hosted the ceremony.

MCB had issued 8.6 million GDRs worth $150 million to the institutional investors last week. The bank stated that the issue had attracted over $700 million from over 50 investors globally. The GDR offer marked the first such offering for a Pakistani issuer in more than 10 years.
