MIRPURKHAS, Oct 17: A team of Anti-Corruption Establishment, comprising the circle in-charge of ACE Mirpurkhas, Ayub Patoli, along with the magistrate, Mohammed Rafique Soomro, raided the food department godown at Naokot on Tuesday and found 12,000 bags of wheat missing.

According to ACE official, a total of 4,900 wheat bags worth RS6 million had reportedly been misappropriated from the Naokot godowns of the food department.

He said that the food inspector Karim Dad Junejo fled from the scene, leaving his nephew Sakinullah behind, who was found dealing with the people instead of the concerned official.

The ACE team found a total of 7,100 wheat bags in the official stock.

He said that the record was seized and statements of the officials at the office of district food controller, Mirpurkhas, were being recorded.

However, the District Food Controller, Nazeer Ahmed Memon, disappeared as the ACE wanted him to record his statement, an official of the department said.

Later, the ACE team also found some of the bags lying at a flour mill owned by an influential man.
