KARACHI, Oct 16: Sindh Chief Secretary Fazalur Rahman on Monday appreciating the cooperation of China in Thar coal project said that it would play an important role in economic development besides strengthening the Pakistan-China ties.He was talking to a delegation of Shanghai Municipal Corporation, led by Huang Ji Ming and Chinese Council General Sun Chunye, who called on him at his office.

About Pakistan-China friendly relations, he recalled that China had cooperated in the establishment of various mega projects of Pakistan including Gawadar Port, Karachi Port Trust and Machine Tool Factory.

He said that all important mega projects including mega city project had great importance in the economic development and prosperity of Pakistan adding that cooperation of China in this regard would also be welcomed.

The chief secretary briefed them about the establishment and system of local government, performance of provincial and district governments and their coordination in this regard. He also explained the problems being faced in different fields, including preparation of master plan, mass transit system, provision of water, power, gas, sewerage and transport system, health and education facilities.

The delegation of Shanghai Municipal Corporation expressed their good wishes for the progress of Pakistan and thanked for the hospitality extended by the provincial and city governments.

Additional Chief Secretary Local Government Mirza Karm Baig, DCO Karachi Fazlur Rehman, Project Coordinator Mega City Roshan Ali Shaikh and others were also present on the occasion.—PPI/APP
