KARACHI, Oct 16: MNA Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, a central leader of the MMA and General Secretary of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam has said that all opposition parties have evolved a consensus on major points and the only thing remaining is the formation of a grand opposition alliance.

Talking to newsmen at the airport on Monday, he remarked: “We are ready to resign from the Balochistan government if this could lead to ouster of the present regime; In fact, resignations are not a solution to the present problems.”

He claimed that the controversial bill on women’s rights was aimed at promoting secularism, and pointed out that it did not recommended punishment for wilful sexual relations (zina bil raza) which was absolutely in conflict with the teachings of Quran and Sunnah. He said that MMA could show flexibility in political matters, but not on religious issues.—PPI
