Published October 16, 2006

PESHAWAR, Oct 15: Hindko poets from different parts of the province gathered here on Saturday night for a naatia mushaira to express reverence for Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Gandhara Hindko Board, a literary, cultural and social welfare organisation, had arranged the open-air gathering as part of its activities for the holy month of Ramazan.

The scion of a prominent religious family of Peshawar, Syedul Hassnain Gillani, popularly known as Sultan Agha, was the chief guest on the occasion, while a noted Hindko writer, poet and research scholar Professor Dr Khatir Ghaznavi presided the event.

A well-known folklorist from Hazara and the first translator of the Holy Quran into Hindko, Haider Zaman Haider, attended the programme as a special guest.

Ahmad Nadeem Awan conducted the poetic sitting.
