KARACHI: PSM workers get raise

KARACHI, Oct 15: All regular employees of the Pakistan Steel Mills shall get a bonus equal to their basic salary before Eidul Fitr.

This was stated by the chairman of the Pakistan Steel Mills, Maj-Gen (retd) Mohammad Javed, while speaking to the employees at Metallurgical Training Centre’s lawn on the eve of his departure for Umrah on Oct 14.

The chairman said that from the next month the basic salary of all regular employees would also be increased by 15 per cent effective from July 1, 2006.

He said that 1,348 contract employees including those on the roll of “Hadeed Welfare Trust” would be paid Rs5,000 as bonus. Besides, about 2,500 daily wagers shall also receive a bonus of Rs3,000 per head before Eid.

Similarly, the minimum level of wages of daily wagers would also be fixed at Rs4,000 per month following the government policy.--PPI
