ABBOTTABAD, Oct 12: Balakot police arrested two people for their alleged involvement in a theft of telephone cables in Balakot and other quake-hit areas.

In a joint raid conducted on Thursday, the PTCL staff and police arrested Hakim and Maula Dad from Balakot and recovered stolen cables and a huge amount of copper, which would be sold to factories and dealers in Punjab.

Police said that the two accused were members of an inter-provincial gang of dacoits which had stolen cables worth millions of rupees during the last one year.—Correspondent
