Rockets fired on building

GHALANAI (Mohmand Agency), Oct 11: Rockets were fired on under-construction building of tehsil headquarters Bhai Daag in the Mohmand Agency here on Tuesday night.

Residents and officials said that the under-construction building was attacked with rockets in the night.

The rockets landed near the building, but did not cause loss of life or property, they said.

They accused Khoizai tribesmen of launching the attack in protest against the arrest of 40 of their tribesmen by the political authorities concerned the other day.

Meanwhile, the Khoizai people took hostage two teachers, namely Ameer Khan and Akbar Khan, of a community school in the area, residents and witnesses said.

The authorities declined to give any information about the hostages.

The authorities had taken action against the Khoizais and arrested 40 men for allegedly holding some Haleemzai men as hostage following a dispute over business issues and levy of taxes in the area.

A number of jirgas held during the past two months has failed to settle the dispute between the Khoizai and Haleemzai tribes of the Mohmand Agency.
