LAHORE, Oct 11: At least three Jordanians and two Pakistanis spectators were injured in an incident of hooliganism during an Asia Cup football qualifier between Jordan and Pakistan at the Punjab Stadium on Wednesday night.

One of the seriously injured Jordanians was given first-aid by the medical teams of the two sports teams.

A police officer said a number of Jordanians had been arrested to bring the situation under control. They were later released.

The clash started just after play resumed in the second half. The Jordanians were jubilant as their team was leading 2-0 at that time.

An eyewitness said that the events turned violent when Jordanians tried to stop some Pakistani youths from taking photographs of Jordanian girls with their cellphones.
