KARACHI, Oct 11: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has called for easy availability of computers in all the fields of activity and particularly in education so that student could take full advantage of information technology.

Presiding over a meeting at Governor’s House on Wednesday, Dr Ishratul Ibad underlined the need for highlighting the significance of information technology in the fields of health and education.

He pointed out that IT could play a significant role in all the branches of health sector, particularly in having access to medical experts for consultation with them.

He observed that doctors in far flung areas and district hospitals could seek medical advice and opinion from doctors in Karachi and Hyderabad through video conferencing. This would also save the patients and their relatives in undertaking long journeys to distant hospitals, he added.

In the modern era, the governor said, the importance of computers in medical consultancy had been acknowledged.

He also called for easy availability of computers with government and private sectors cooperation to benefit students. He said there was imperative need to ensure the availability of computers in universities, colleges and schools on easy terms with the assistance of financial institutions.

The meeting was attended by Sindh IT Adviser Noman Saigal, City Nazim Muustafa Kamal, Naib Nazim Nasreen Jalil, Principal Secretary Saleem Khan and other high officials besides a delegation of INTEL Corporation led by Jhon Davis.

The Intel delegation assured the governor of all cooperation in the provision of computers.—APP
