PESHAWAR, Oct 10: The NWFP government will spend Rs918 million on 45 projects of Higher Education Department during the current financial year.

Out of the amount, Rs735 million will be spent on 26 ongoing projects and Rs183 million on 19 new projects.

According to official sources, two degree college — one for boys and the other for girls — will be set up this year at a cost of Rs140 million in Bakhshali (Mardan) and Jandol (Lower Dir).

The construction work is under way on 13 colleges for boys and girl including Government Degree College Ammakhel (Tank), Government Degree College Porwa (D.I. Khan), Government Degree College Dumail (Bannu), Government Durrani Degree College in Sikandar Khel Bala (Bannu), Degree Girl’s College Luwand Khwar (Mardan), Government Girls College Takht Bhai (Mardan), Government Degree College Kabul (Swat), Government Girls College Upper Dir, Government Girls College Booni (Chitral), Government Girls College Batagram and Government Degree College in Galiyat.

An amount of Rs 38 million would be spent on setting up information technology blocks in Post-Graduate Colleges of the province and on establishment of science blocks in other colleges.

A total of Rs 40 million would be spent on setting up of new administration blocks, cafeteria, boundary walls and additional class rooms in different colleges of the province.

The provincial government would set up public libraries in Bannu, Lower Dir and D.I. Khan at a cost of Rs 145 million in the current financial year.—APP
