KARACHI, Oct 10: The University of Karachi should be provided electricity on concessional rate and not on commercial rate.

A demand to this effect was made by the Karachi University Teachers’ Society (KUTS) on Tuesday. A statement said that the KUTS chief has also written a letter to the managing director of the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) in this respect.

It was pointed out that following the installation of modern equipment related to teaching and research and construction of new buildings the consumption of electricity had gone up considerably.

At present the University of Karachi is spending around Rs100 million under the head of electricity, the statement added.—APP
