ISLAMABAD, Oct 8: Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (Erra) chairman Altaf Mohammad Saleem has described the relief and rehabilitation activities in quake-hit as satisfactory.

Talking to a news TV channel on Sunday, he said there were 3.5 million people without any social commodity after the quake who were protected from the extreme weather.

He said that 6,000 schools and the entire health sector were destroyed, adding that the water supply and sanitation systems were also damaged.

The Erra chairman said that 100 per cent of schools had been resettled and added that 100 per cent health facilities had been made available in the affected areas.

He said the third challenge was reconstruction of houses. A survey of 600,000 houses has been completed and 90 per cent of the affected people have been given the compensation.—APP
