KARACHI, Oct 8: The senior vice-president of the Pakistan Muslim League and chairman Senate Standing Committee on Defence, Senator Nisar Memon, assured the KESC Employees Unity to contact the officials concerned to highlight the problems being faced by the workers.
He stated this while speaking at a reception arranged by the KESCEU here. The senator told the unity members that he would also take up their issues on the floor of the Senate. He felicitated the employees’ unity on one year extension in the service of contract employees.
Senator Memon said that the government had been working for the welfare of workers. He called upon them to put in hard work to raise productivity level which in turn would steer the nation to the path of progress.
He said nations who worked hard day and night were now reaping the fruits of prosperity today. In this regard, he cited the examples of China and Korea.
Earlier, the chairman of the employees’ unity, Arbab Asad Khan, gave the welcome address.
Other KESCEU office-bearers apprised the chief guest about the problems being faced by the KESC workers. The president of the PML Labour Wing Karachi, Mutiur Rehman and President Sui Gas CBA Abdul Ghafoor also spoke.—APP
