Another man sets himself on fire

ISLAMABAD, Oct 7: A 40-year-old man committed suicide in Sector G-13, while a chemist was shot dead in a robbery attempt on Saturday, police said.

Azeem Ahmed Khan, a resident of Morgah, doused himself with kerosene oil and set himself on fire on a double road in the sector, sustaining critical burns, the police said.

The burn victim was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences where he died.

Mr Azeem, who used to visit Thailand in connection with business, had married a Thai girl, from who he had one baby girl. The investigation officer said a few months ago, Azeem’s wife left him and went back to her country along with her daughter which drove him into distress.

On reaching Thailand, she requested her embassy in Pakistan not to grant visa to Mr Azeem, who suffered another setback when the embassy refused his visa, ending his hopes of reuniting with his estranged wife.

Meanwhile, a chemist was shot dead in a robbery attempt in sector G-10.
