KARACHI, Oct 6: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s coordination committee on Friday castigated the ruling clique for hurling allegations at the MQM.

Without naming the PML-Q, the coordination committee accused ‘feudal lords of Punjab’ of exploiting the 98 per cent poor and downtrodden in that province, as well as elsewhere in the country.

It claimed that the feudal lords had started hurling allegations at the MQM because they felt threatened by the rapidly growing popularity of the party in the masses of Punjab as well.

Situation became uncomfortable for the ruling coalition when the Punjab minister on the floor of the provincial assembly stated that street crime had surged since the opening of MQM offices in Punjab.

The MQM reacted forcefully and called the PML-Q ‘a bunch of turncoats’, which ignited a new war of words between the two ruling coalition partners.

It may be pointed out that MQM’s parliamentary leader in the National Assembly Dr Farooq Sattar was recently prevented from addressing a corner meeting in a Punjab town, whereas the MQM offices were not allowed to function.

The MQM maintains that the recent allegations were part of the exploiters efforts to save their exploitative system and mislead people.
