PESHAWAR, Oct 6: The NWFP Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Sardar Muhammad Idrees, on Friday visited various bazars in Peshawar along with special magistrates and other officials.

The team raided a ghee factory in Mohallah Punj Teerath on GT Road and arrested labourers Jehanzeb, Ejaz, Bukht Munir and Qamar Zaman for adulteration. They were caught red-handed mixing different brands of ghee and underweight packing.

The minister also checked the Osama Tea Factory, Osama Tea Store and Shah Jee Tea Store in Batair Bazan Bazar near Chowk Yadgar and found large quantities of fluids which were being used for colouring tea. He sealed these factories and ordered arrest of the people involved.

The minister went round Ghanta Ghar Bazar, Karimpura Bazar, Chowk Shadi Pir and Hashtnagiri Bazar. He checked the price lists and fined butchers and other shopkeepers for overcharging.

Speaking on the occasion the minister said surprise inspection and raids would continue.—PPI
