HYDERABAD, Oct 6: Jamshoro District Nazim Malik Asad Sikandar has taken serious notice of growing complaints about rampant corruption and embezzlement and directed the heads of district government departments to submit a report on the performance of their departments within a week.
Presiding over a meeting of district officials on Thursday, which reviewed the progress on development schemes in the district, the nazim asked the district’s taluka nazims to submit a report on the performance of each union council and stressed the need for speeding up the pace of work on the ongoing development schemes.
He said that the reports about corruption in various district departments had reached even Islamabad and warned that strict action would be taken against corrupt officials and a report on their crimes would also be sent to the government.
Mr Sikandar criticised the performance of Sehwan Development Authority and appointed a committee to prepare recommendations to improve its performance. The nazim would be the committee’s head.
The meeting reviewed progress on Rs154.111 million 180 old and new development schemes for 2005-06 as well as the development schemes of current fiscal year.
District Naib Nazim Abdul Hameed Buledi who is also the chairman of the tax committee and all district officials attended the meeting.
DCO: Jamshoro DCO Dr Mohammad Khawar Jamil on Friday directed to use standard material in the construction and repairs of schools and include technical personnel in the monitoring committee to oversee the ongoing work.
Presiding over a meeting of the district education officials at his office he urged them to ensure the funds were being used judiciously.
EDO Education Abdul Hameed Hur complained about the shortage of teachers and said that substandard material was being used in the construction and repairs of schools while 828 posts of teachers were still lying vacant in the district.
The DCO directed the EDO Works and Services Muneer Soomro and EDO Finance Syed Sikandar Ali Shah to pay visits with EDO education to all the under-construction schools to ensure quality of material being used in the construction.
All the district officers (education) attended the meeting.
TM KHAN: The EDO of education, Tando Mohammad Khan, Mohammad Khan Samoon, issued directives on Thursday to reopen all closed primary schools.
He also issued transfer orders of 125 teachers to Tando Ghulam Haider, Bulri Shah Karim and Tando Mohammad Khan talukas and directed them to submit their joining report within a week.
