KARACHI, Oct 6: Additional and district sessions court West has dismissed bail application of four accused in electric wire theft case.

Abdul Karim, Haider Bux, Mohammad and Baboo were arrested by the Mauripur police on Aug 23.

Police alleged that the accused were trying to cut copper wire and having seen police they made firing on police party to restrain them to perform their legal duty. Police recovered a truck, cutter and 50 to 52 meters KESC copper high transmission wire and found that high transmission line was cut.

Applicant's counsel contended that the prosecution story could not be relied upon as police just to show their efficiency implicated the accused in case. He said it was case of ineffective firing as no one received injury from both sides.

KESC counsel argued that the applicants were involved in heinous nature crimes which was against the public and society. They said applicants belong to mafia involved in cutting wire of electricity from electric pools which is made of copper, an expensive material that was not available in market.

ADJ Ms Hafiza Usman, after hearing the case, observed that at this stage bail could not be granted to accused. However, they will be at liberty to move a fresh application after recording the evidence of material witnesses of the case.—PPI
