KARACHI: Power breakdowns in Malir

Published October 5, 2006

KARACHI, Oct 4: Residents of Pak Kausar Town, Kausar Town, Saudia Colony, Malir Colony and Liaquat Market and adjoining localities in Malir have been groaning owing to frequent power breakdowns, saying that the unannounced loadshedding had made their lives miserable.

They said hardly any day passed when there were no breakdowns, while normally there were four to five breakdowns of various durations was a daily routine.

They said owing to power disruptions, they often faced water shortage as they failed to pump water into their overhead tanks, and it perturbed them when there was no electric supply at the time of Sehri and Iftar.

The residents have urged the authorities concerned to take measures to reduce the frequency of breakdowns and localized faults.
