MIRPURKHAS, Oct 2: Twenty-three men, women and children of the Bheel community staged a demonstration outside the local press club on Monday demanding that the chief justice of Pakistan get 50 of their relatives released from the clutches of a landlord, Younus Pervez Kaimkhani of Kot Ghulam Mohammed taluka.

The protesters led by Jagmal, Bhugro and Mitho Bheel said that they with their women and children managed to escape from the illegal detention of the landlord a day before while 50 of their relatives were still in detention.

They said that the landlord and his henchmen used to subject them to inhuman torture after a day of hard labour and they were not allowed to leave the land and go to meet with their relatives.

They said that the landlord called himself a leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and when they met with the DPO to apprise him of the landlord’s excesses, he, too, asked them to go to the MQM’s zonal office in Mirpurkhas.

They demanded that the government provide them justice and ensure immediate recovery of their detained relatives.
