FAISALABAD, Oct 1: Two people were killed and three others — a man and his two sons — sustained injuries in a clash between two rival groups here on Sunday at Chak 35-GB.

Reports said some armed men of Akhtar group attacked the house of Rehmat Ali and opened indiscriminate fire, which was returned. As a result of which two people from both sides were killed.

They have been identified as Muhammad Aslam, 15, son of Rehmat Ali and Aslam of Akhtar group. The injured included Rehmat and his two sons Asghar and Ashraf.

Sattiana police have registered a case against six people — Akhtar, Amjad, Intizar, Khadim and Aslam. However, no arrest was made.

In another case, two people including a passerby were killed over a minor issue in Rasoolpura, Ghulam Mohammadabad, on Sunday night.

Mohammad Ali and Zafar quarreled some two days ago over a minor issue with Usman. On Sunday Usman reportedly visited Ali for reconciliation. But the latter opened fire upon Usman’s arrival in his area.

Police said Usman died on the spot while Arslan, a passerby, also sustained bullet injuries and died on way to hospital.
