KASUR, Oct 1: A man deprived Chunian tehsil nazim of Rs3.5 million in a private business deal by giving a bogus cheque here on Sunday in Changa Manga police precincts.

Reports said Nazim Rana Ibad Khan had given Rs3.5 million to Mian Muhammad Abbas for buying agricultural medicines, which the latter could not provide.

Later, Mr Abbas gave a cheque of Rs3.5 million to the nazim at a panchayat, which was bounced. Changa Manga police have registered a case against Mr Abbas.

TAKEN AWAY: Thieves took away cash and valuables in two hits here on Sunday.

Ghulam Muhammad told the police that Muhammad Arif along with his accomplices allegedly broke into his house and took away valuables worth thousands of rupees.

In the second incident, Babar Masih allegedly entered the shop of Arif Malik near Chunian Government Girls College and made off with cash and valuables on Saturday night.

Police have registered the cases and are investigating.
