KARACHI: Support for the elderly

KARACHI, Oct 1: A walk was held in front of the Karachi Press Club on Sunday to mark the international day for senior citizens.

It was organised by the Geriatrics Care Foundation (GCF) and was jointly led by its founding president Dr Raana Mahmood and chief patron Qutubuddin. The participants displayed banners as well as placards.

According to organisers, the walk was held for the support and well-being of elderly people in Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rana Mahmood said that elderly citizens of Pakistan deserved the attention of the public, society and the government.

He also called for proper medical care facility and sociological setup to ensure respect for such people and also stressed the need for day-care centres, and nursing homes for the elderly.—APP
