PESHAWAR, Sept 30: Two people were arrested on their arrival from Riyadh at the Peshawar International Airport on Saturday for allegedly travelling on stolen passports.

Javed Alam, a resident of Alizai area of Kurram Agency, arrived from Riyadh by Saudi Airline’s flight SV-892.

He was carrying a passport bearing the number H-642523, which had been stolen on February 22, 2004 from the passport office in Quetta, said Inamullah Khan Gandapur, Assistant Director of Federal Investigation Agency.

However, the traveller claimed that he had obtained it from the passport office in Parachinar after submitting Rs1,500 fee.

The official said that another passenger Majnoon Khan, a resident of Loralai district in Balochistan, was also found carrying a passport which had been stolen from the passport office in Swat. The passport was bearing the number KB-023263.

Mr Majnoon too claimed that he had obtained the passport from the passport office in Zhob, Balochistan, after submitting the government fee.

Mr Gandapur said that two travellers were sent to the FIA passport circle for inquiry.
