KARACHI, Sept 29: The Pakistan Medical Association on Friday expressed concern over unabated sale of acid-washed ginger and termed it highly dangerously for human health.

The PMA said not only ginger but also other vegetables were also washed by acid so that to increase their weight. It cautioned that vegetables, particularly ginger, cleansed by acid were extremely hazardous for human health.

It said the act of cleansing edibles with acid was being carried out by children living in unprivileged localities who easily put their life in danger for small amount of money.

The PMA demanded immediate steps for the stoppage of this hazardous process.—PPI
