ISLAMABAD, Sept 28: The import of vehicles in completely-built unit (CBU) condition witnessed growth of 83 per cent during the first two months (July-Aug) of the fiscal year 2006-07 over the same months last year.
Official figures available with Dawn, however, showed that the imports of CKD/SKD kits by the local cars assemblers down by 43.32 per cent during the period under review.
This showed that the marked reduction in the import of kits by the local assemblers would lead to lesser production following massive rise in the imports of complete cars from various countries.
