Cigarettes worth Rs4m robbed

SAHIWAL, Sept 27: Four dacoits took away cigarettes worth Rs4 million here on Wednesday from warehouse of a tobacco company in Gulshan Ali Housing Colony.

Reports said bandits came to the warehouse of Lakson Tobbaco Company at 2.00am. After overpowering watchman Manzoor Ahmed, they entered the godown, loaded about 534 crates of cigarettes on a truck and managed to escape.

In another incident, four robbers entered the house of grower Jafar in Chak 74/5-L. On offering resistance, they shot him injured and managed to escape without taking away anything. Jafar was shifted to a Lahore hospital.

Police have registered the cases.

SUSPENDED: The Multan range DIG on Wednesday ordered suspension of Grain Market SHO Inspector Shafqat Kamboh for failure to control the incidence of robbery and asked him to report to police lines.

Nasrullah Niazi has been appointed as Grain Market SHO.

Meanwhile, DPO Javed Husain Shah ordered suspension of head constable Rana Zulfiqar Ali and directed him to report to police lines. He was accused of heading a car lifters gang.

BIKE LIFTED: A motorcycle was lifted from DPO office here on Wednesday.

Reports said Rehan of Kot Khadim Ali Shah had come to the office of DPO to see one of his friends. After some time, he found his two-wheeler (SLD-155) missing.

Civil lines police are investigating.
