PESHAWAR, Sept 26: A Netherlands mission held a meeting with the NWFP Minister for Education, Maulana Fazle Ali Haqqani in Peshawar.

They discussed matters of mutual interest with special focus on education sector reforms and female education in the NWFP.

Provincial Education Minister was assisted by Secretary Schools and Literacy, Shafiullah Khan, Special Secretary Education, Fazal Manan.

The mission was briefed about the steps taken by MMA-led provincial government in the sector of education to promote quality education as well as enhance the literacy rate.

The Mission was told that the provincial government despite meagre resources allocated the major chunk of the budget for the education sector.

Similarly, the provincial government had so far established 66 colleges in the province the majority of which were girls’ colleges in order to promote female education in the province, the mission was told.

The mission eulogized the NWFP government’s educational sector reforms and assured all-out support to the provincial government.

The provincial minister also lauded the financial and technical support of the mission extended to the NWFP government in various sectors and assured all-out cooperation to the mission on behalf of the provincial government.—PPI
