KARACHI, Sept 26: Commissioner Social Security Rasool Bakhsh has asked all the directorates of Sindh Employees Social Security Institution to ensure the attainment of recovery of contribution target so as to further widen the scheme's scope and provide all possible facilities to secured workers.
He was chairing a review meeting held to take stock of SESSI's performance for the month of August. The meeting he reviewed the facilities provided to secured workers as well as recovery of contribution.
It was informed that during August SESSI paid Rs2.480 million as financial assistance to secured workers and their dependents.
Of this amount, Rs 638,153 were paid as sickness allowance, Rs 1.123 million as disability pension/gratuity, Rs 365,342 as compensation for injury caused during work, Rs 219,594 pension to heirs, Rs 18,000 as delivery charges and Rs 35,431 as financial assistance in death.The meeting was told that SESSI recovered Rs 81 million as contribution from 18,649 industrial and commercial establishments having 345,000 registered workers during the month under review.
During this period some 131,638 patients visited outdoor department of SESSI's medical hospitals and centres while 11,611 cases were referred to specialists. In the month, 236 major operations were carried out in SESSI hospitals.—APP
