KARACHI, Sept 25: Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal along with District Coordination Officer, Fazlur Rehman, and other officials, visited various city areas on Sunday and Monday night from 11pm till Sehri time and inspected patch-work and carpeting of roads.

He visited Sharea Faisal, M A Jinnah Road, I I Chundrigar Road, Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Tower, Saddar, Soldier Bazaar, Orangi Town and various parts of New Karachi.

In a briefing on the occasion the City Nazim was informed that in view of arrival of Ramazan-ul-Mubarak, the City Government has filled the potholes on roads while 90 per cent work of carpeting has been completed, particularly in areas where traffic police had identified roads, the patch work and carpeting has been completed.

The Nazim was told that Garden Road, Pak Colony, Altaf Brelvi Road, Shahrah Orangi and one track of Korangi Road-12000 have been opened for traffic.

The Nazim asked the Town Nazims to take joint measures with Traffic police to ensure the flow of traffic through their respective areas so that people does not face problems during Ramazan-ul-Mubarak and they reach their work places and homes easily.

He directed that patch and carpeting work should continue and after its completion on important and major roads in the first phase, the internal roads be then taken up.

He said that the city government has already allocated Rs 180 million for this purpose and until each and every road is completed, the work must continue.

He also directed the town administrations for completion of work with priority attention on areas where greater traffic rush is experienced.

He said the roads around Nazimabad underpass are also being opened for traffic.

Meanwhile, City government on Monday completed the construction of streets at both sides of Nazimabad Underpass and opened the same for traffic on the first day of holy month of Ramazan.

The streets will be used by the vehicles plying from SITE to Hassan Square and Hassan Square to SITE.

City Nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal also paid visit to the site and directed the officials of the concerned department to deploy the concerned staff for ensuring free and smooth flow of traffic on streets.

Meanwhile, the Works and Services Department CDGK removed hurdles with the help of heavy machinery while the water tankers of the CDGK also showered water on streets.—APP
