KARACHI, Sept 25: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan on Monday said that the city government with the help of foreign firms, especially oil companies, could improve Karachi’s infrastructure and beautify it.

He said this while speaking at a meeting with officials of different oil companies in the Governor’s House. City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal and high officials of the CDGK were also present.

He said the oil companies were paying revenue to the government but the dispute between advertising agencies and the city government on collection of taxes on billboards of oil companies at petrol stations was creating problems.

He directed officials of the city government to directly contact oil companies for advertisement taxes. He said that coordination with oil companies would not only help eliminate the corrupt middleman culture but also help in eliminating the ugly billboards and help in the beautification of the city.

Earlier, citing the details of their performance, officials of oil companies said that all oil companies were following safety rules according to international standards. They said that all safety measures were being used to avoid any mishap during the transportation of oil products.—PPI
