KARACHI, Sept 24: Two persons, one of them an activist of the Mutthida Qaumi Movement, were gunned down in different parts of the city on Sunday.

The Muttahida activist, Shafeeq alias Chitaa, was going on a motorcycle when he was shot at near Korangi Nadi. He was rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Senior party officials and workers visited the Jinnah hospital to inquire about the incident, hospital sources said.

In Zaman Town police limits, a young man was shot dead by unidentified persons.

Duty officer of the police station said that Muhammad Ehsan, 34, was sitting at a vacant plot in Sector 50-A when armed men on two motorcycles opened fire at him and fled. He was taken to the Jinnah hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

BODY FOUND: The body of a young man was recovered from a graveyard in Landhi on Sunday.

Police said that the body was found in a graveyard of Christian Colony, Landhi. Police said that the victim was stabbed to death. They shifted the body to the Jinnah hospital for post-mortem examination.

Following the legal formalities, the body was sent to the Edhi morgue for identification.

DROWNED: A young man was swept away by the rough sea at Sandspit beach on Sunday morning.

An official of the Hawkesbay Rescue Centre said that Rashid, 18, was fishing at Sandspit beach since Saturday night. On Sunday morning, he was swept away by tides as he went for a dip in the rough sea.
