GILGIT: Rs976m for Ghizer projects

GILGIT, Sept 24: The government has allocated Rs976 million for development works in District Ghizer of the Northern Areas.

An official of the Public Works Department said Rs188m would be spent on development of education, Rs390m on housing, Rs240 million on health and Rs86m on tourism sectors whereas Rs10.05m was being spent to provide drinking water to people under the president’s special development package. He said work on 112 development schemes in education, health, tourism, telecommunication and animal husbandry sectors and for providing potable water was being carried out at fast pace.

He said efforts were being made to complete all ongoing development projects on time. He said that government was spending these funds to improve the socioeconomic lot of the people of the Northern Areas.
