HYDERABAD, Sept 24: Student organisations have demanded that a ban on student unions should be lifted. Leaders of the organisations said that in future all those forces would be opposed which often resorted to boycott of classes.

Speaking at a seminar here on Sunday, they stressed the need for a united front of student organisations at the international level.

The seminar “Save Education — Save Sindh” was organised by the Sindh National Students Federation at the press club.

The seminar demanded that only teachers should be appointed as vice chancellors of universities on the basis of merit.

SNF leader Ayoub Shar said that students of Sindh had become fully conscious of socio-economic changes in the world and added that a change was being witnessed in student politics.

He said that the presence of agent provocateurs in education institutions of Sindh was harmful for academic activities.

Sindh National Council leader Punhal Sario said that students were an integral part of society and in fact true representatives of society.

He said that the syllabus being taught in Pakistan was outdated.

He urged student organisations to unite on one platform for education and for their future.

Lala Qurban, Kehar Ansari, Hyder Shah, Roshan Baloch and Mohammad Zahid spoke on the occasion.
