The storm hit the city around 12:30pm and it uprooted many small trees and hoardings. The sky was covered with dark clouds but the city received only light rain, which quickly settled dust.

According to the local meteorological office, the velocity of the storm was 74kms per hour and it was generated by a westerly wave over Kashmir. The maximum temperature was 33.2 degrees Celsius and the minimum 21.8 degrees C with 70 per cent humidity in the morning and 55 per cent in the evening.

The Met office has forecast a partly cloudy weather for the city during the next 24 hours.
