PESHAWAR, Sept 22: Acting Governor Justice Tariq Parvez Khan has stressed the need for immediate and effective disposal of hospital waste to eliminate chances of reuse of syringes.
He was on an inspection visit to the Civil Hospital Nathiagali in Abbottabad district on Friday. The governor inquired about healthcare services being offered by the institution to patients. Apart from the staff, some notable of the area were also present on the occasion.
The governor also exchanged views with the notable about performance of the hospital which has been extending healthcare services since 1944.
The governor, however, noted that the hospital was lacking in child-care services. While conceding to a demand for appointment of a lady-doctor, the governor assured the hospital management to take necessary initiatives at the earliest.
He also went round various sections of the hospital and expressed satisfaction over cleanliness and other facilities.
IJT PROTEST: Jamiat-e-Talba-e-Islam (JTI), the students’ wing of JUI-F, has threatened to launch a country-wide strike if the killers of their leader Sayed Kamil Shah are not arrested.
In their meeting with President of JTI NWFP Mohammad Noor Azad here on Friday, district chiefs of the party expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of Swat police and threatened to launch a protest campaign against them. They also demanded suspension of the officials of Swat district administration.
Meanwhile, addressing a protest demonstration in front of the Peshawar Press Club, Mr Azad said despite the passage of 10 days, the Swat police could not arrest the killers of Kamil Shah.
“We will no more remain silent,” he warned, calling upon the chief minister to suspend the district administration officials.—APP/PPI
