Firing in Haripur leaves eight dead

HARIPUR, Sept 21: At least eight people were killed and four others injured when gunmen opened fire on a pick-up on Hattar Road near Kotnajibullah on Thursday.

Police said the vehicle was going to Haripur from Kotnajibullah with 11 passengers when some people chasing it in a car opened Klashnikov fire killing six people on the spot and injuring six others.

The injured and the bodies were taken to the district headquarters hospital where two of the injured died. The four others were referred to the Ayub Medical Complex in critical condition.

“A black car was chasing the pick-up. When it reached Todo stop one of the people in the car opened fire on passengers,” said a witness.

Those killed in the attack are: Qaisar and Fiaz of Sera-i-Gadai and Raja Farhan Haider, Master Khurshid, Abdul Qayum, Nazakat, Abdul Basit and Mubashir of Kotnajibullah.
