LAHORE, Sept 19: Fine performance with the bat and gloves by wicket-keeper Uday Kaul steered India U-19 to a convincing 82-run win over Pakistan in the first of three one-dayers at Qadhafi Stadium on Tuesday.

Kaul hit a 72-ball 67 and with Sumit Sharma (65) featured in a fifth-wicket partnership of 119 runs, after the visitors lost first four wickets for 31 runs.

Kaul later claimed three catches and effected one stumping as the home team was bundled out for 168 in 39.4 overs.

Put in to bat first, India lost four top batsmen including vice captain Cheteshwar Pujara (12), Perviz Aziz (2), Virat Kohli (0) and Tammay Srivastava (1) with the total being just 31.

But Kaul and Sumit batted with great authority and brought India back into the game with fine partnership as Indians were 150-4.

But they went back one after other with addition of three runs.

First Sumit was caught by Tanvir Afzal off Imad Wasim.

He cracked three sixes and two fours off 75 balls. Then, Kaul was caught behind off paceman Mohammad Naveed.

Despite the two quick dismissals, Indian innings was further strengthened by their captain Piyush Chawla (43) and Ravindra Jadeja (32) as the seventh-wicket partnership yielded 69 runs.

Pakistan made a good start of 80-2, despite losing opener Mohammad Ibrahim without without scoring, as Jamal Anwar (39) and Fazal Subhan (33) added 80 in the second wicket.
